My mother in law gets it

Bob had the chance to chat with his mom earlier this week about how her life is going - she lives about 9 hours from us, so we don't get to see her all that often. She mentioned that one of his brothers had taken her up to church with his daughter and husband. Bob & I know the reputation of the church, in fact, we recommended it to them. Anyway, their worship is known to be quite contemporary and loud - to the point where they hand out ear plugs on the way in if you want them. So, Bob was curious to hear her thoughts on the matter, since she is nearly 81. She said that they really knew how to worship and that she enjoyed the sermon, all of it. He asked if the music was too loud or too much for her (she refused the plugs) - she said it was fine, she just enjoyed being able to worship with her granddaughter and son! Can I clone her?! We have been having this battle in our church for the 8 years we've been here! Bob nearly fell off his chair at work when he heard her answer. We will see how things transpire if/when we call the new pastor. The church if you're interested in checking things out is called Sandals. Right now they are meeting on the campus of Cal Baptist.

Oops - dinner is ready for my attention.

I think that's awesome to hear. Our own church is running the early and later services, earlier being contemporary, later being traditional. BUT! Lately they've been keeping the worship team into the second service and are slowly transforming the later service. What I've enjoyed is seeing older folks coming to the earlier contemporary service. They clap, sway and raise their hands -- although sometimes they've got to sit. LOL. Pretty cool.
